Positive experience: When I decided to give 4 stars for a “Great” experience as a tenant, I actually started with 5. However, I asked myself, “What would be an exceptional experience?” I thought that it would involve absolute support and promotion of the wellbeing of the tenant. Instead, I degraded my rating to 4 stars because, while I believe I was given very good care of by First National staff, their hands were tied by the reluctance of the owner and Strata management to make any improvements to the deteriorating conditions of the building. The gutters, carpet and cracks in ceilings were cause for concern for my health. For example, despite the need for gutters to be cleared prior to the wet season, they overflowed causing additional flooding into the entryway and caused the main door to expand and fall apart. Likewise, when a drought was predicted, the gutters were full of leaves and there were many ads on TV to clear them to help with fire prevention. I lived in fear while fires raged around our area, so I got a neighbour to help me clean the gutters at his own risk. First National staff, particularly Georgina, was sympathetic and acted on my behalf by contacting the owner or Strata management when I sent in requests for repairs. However, while having knowledge about a tenant’s rights to live safely, sympathy and a gap in communication is not enough. There needed to be opportunities for open communication between myself, the owner and/or Strata management, with discussion including tenants’ rights to a safe and healthy environment.

Fantastic experience: I was very happy with Ben's help in selling my house. Throughout the whole process Ben was friendly, positive and incredibly responsive. Ben's enthusiasm and professional approach really stood out, and most importantly, he achieved a great result for me. Thanks so much Ben.

Negative experience: Very disappointing experience with Kaye McGrath! Before submitting our offer, I specifically asked what the process would be if another higher offer came in. I was clearly told that we would be contacted and given the opportunity to place a counteroffer or submit our best and final offer. Instead, we received no communication or updates at all, and then were simply informed that the vendors had already signed a contract with another buyer. When I later questioned this, I was told that all buyers had supposedly been informed that their first offer needed to be their “best and final.” This was not what had been communicated to us during our conversations, which made the whole experience even more frustrating. Had we been told from the beginning that there would be no further opportunity to negotiate, we absolutely would have submitted a significantly higher offer. I understand this is how the game can sometimes be played, and of course everyone is trying to secure the best possible deal, but buyers should still be able to expect clear, honest and consistent communication throughout the process. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling misled and very disappointed, and we will not be pursuing any future property purchases through this agent.

Negative experience: We would not buy a property via Gary G again, neither would we want him attached to selling a house for us in the future. It is our opinion that he was misleading with information. Over the phone he also strongly deterred us from being present at the building and pest inspection (after the owner had already refused another company we had chosen) - which resulted in us buying a property with a major defect the owner knew about and withheld disclosing to us. I strongly recommend you attend your building and pest inspection so you can ask questions and point out issues - we should not have listened to Gary. __ In regards to your reply - yes we spoke to Gary and essentially his reply was “nothing you can do now as it’s settled”. Again, major regrets for listening to his advice not to attend the building and pest inspection.

Fantastic experience: Ben worked around the clock, 7 days a week to get us a very favourable result over our asking price. He was prompt with all communication, and would leave detailed messages when unable to answer the phone. We felt very included in the process and Ben provided very solid guidance when negotiating prices, but was not pushy about it at all. Ben is an agent who advocates strongly for the buyers wishes and this is the reason why I chose to sell through him.

Positive experience: While the experience with the property sales was 5 out of 5 the property rentals department leaves a lot to be desired. I have rented two properties while I was building my own home, and at the end of the rental it was the same story. They demand to get the property in perfect condition, even though in both cases the properties that i have recieved at the begining of the lease were just passable as just being clean enough..... Getting the bond back was another long experience.... It does seem that the attitude towards the people who are on the market to purchase is different to the people who are renting, but that is probably the situation with all real estate agents..... Still though as far as the rental experience with the agent, I would not reflect upon it as anything as being even close to pleasent

Negative experience: Over the course of 13 years renting through Wal Murry, they entered my mother’s former home illegally multiple times (they’re required by law to give notice). When they did send notice, the dates they provided were often incorrect. They sent the most incompetent group of painters around to touch up the house who ended up painting several of the windows shut (rendering them unusable) and shattered the glass in one. Rather than fixing a perfectly good stove/oven that only had one defective plate, they replaced it with an entirely new one that basically never worked properly (plates wouldn't heat up or would heat up even if they weren't turn on). They refused to acknowledge that my mother had paid rent in advance, so she had to pay again—essentially robbing her. After she was (no grounds) evicted, they claimed she still had an outstanding balance, despite her having bank statements proving she had already paid! A warning to anyone: never rent through this real estate agency! Edit/Response: I lived with my mother for much of the time period I've outlined and personally witnessed most, not all but most, of the things that occurred.

She always afforded me as much notice on varying appointments as possible and couldn't ask for a more consistent communicator. One time I forgot about an important appointment during my outgoing period and she handled it with such grace and professionalism that felt above and beyond the standard and I was incredibly grateful for her. Negative experience: Rented for the first time through wal murry and co. We found the staff very kind and supportive . However after vacating the property , very shocked of the exit bill . Looks like they don’t want to pay back the advance . 1.Need to pay for whole washbasin unit in toilet because of water damage of basin according to them. One side of the cabin door bumped on top ,due to water from the tap . Why the materials used in washbasin didn’t had a quality to resist water ? Will they charge a tenant for a water leak under the toilet if they found it during exit ?? 2. Cleaning ( I would agree if they wanna clean house again with professionals ) happy to do it as a tenant from our side . Never again Walmurray

Keely Foster has been our Portfolio Manager for the past three years and handled all our requirements to a very high standard. We are very happy and now welcome Hannah Childs to carry on as our new incoming Portfolio Manager. It is so good to be able to work with this Company who understand how to present our properties to attract long term quality tenants that appreciate our properties in Lismore without us having to worry about management.

Negative experience: As a renter in the Lismore area for 30yrs I’m sad to say that Wal Murray was a bad experience. Property managers just say what they want you to hear. They lie. Unfortunately my mum was right! Real Estates are like car salesmen, you cannot trust them. On leaving my rental I was asked to do much more than was on my inspection report. They took money where ever they could with no option to negotiate. Take photos of everything!! And I mean, everything. I was really hoping the property manager was real and honest but sadly disappointed. Not sure where they get their power but having peoples futures in their hands is dangerous! We are at their mercy and their decisions set us up to succeed or fail. Hoping this culture changes and renters are seen as important people.

Negative experience: some of the rudest, and most useless and slackest property managers in Lismore. They could not organise to get proper tradies to inspect the damages done by the tenants so I had to do all leg work myself. Could not find the right tenants so rented my property to people who lived in my property like nomads and flooded the property and damaged the floor tiles. Every time there was an issue with the tenants who had damaged my property all they could do was advise me to take the claim to the Tribunal. Truly, some passive aggressive and fake agents. Yes, they do look after their mates and their properties. God bless you if you are not one of their mates. They will let your property trashed by the tenants, if your make a claim they will advise to take your claim to the Tribunal. so they can charge you $20 an hour for the preparation and submission of the claim. I would not pay those useless property managers 20c an hour leave alone $20 an hour. Now I am going to take their advice and take them to the Tribunal to claim for the damages to my property as the result of their negligence so they can learn to treat property owners fairly with respect and dignity. I am now following their advice and taking them the Tribunal so they can feel the result of their unfair and unprofessional treatment of the clients...

Negative experience: After being lied to multiple times I would suggest that no one ever do business with this company again. Whether you be a tenant or a landlord stay far away from this company. If it is already to late for you, like it is us, I would suggest you record any communication between you and the company as stated before they do lie and they don't admit it as Wal Murray is definitely in the cultural consumer beware.
