Negative experience: Would highly recommend looking elsewhere when selling your property. Found Tim Douglas to be a poor agent that was not responsive, pumps up vendors expectations and ends up selling below early offers made. No surprise when the price is withheld due to a poor result. Shame because our elderly neighbour would have gotten more if she had been presented our offer early in the campaign but ended up selling to others for less without any follow up with us (despite a commitment from Tim to do so). Very poor communication overall and will certainly not be using this agency for any of our property needs. Mostly feel sorry for our neighbour being taken advantage of and misled. In situations like this when an agent sells for ~10% less than what was promised their commission should be at least halved but doubt this one will.

Negative experience: I have a "No Junk Mail" sign on my mail box but have received on multiple occasions random promotioal material from Place. I guess Sam Schmidt and his team and unable to follow simple instructions. I can't imagine they would be competent enough to handle a house sale.

Fantastic experience: I bought my property from Tim 19 years ago and sold it today again via Tim. The experience was seamless and I'm very happy with the result. Thanks Place and Tim

Negative experience: BEWARE STAY AWAY I would highly recommend for prospective tenants and home owners, looking at finding rentals and property managers to stay away from this real estate. The property managers attitude are disgusting and highly unprofessional and have the typical mindset of nitpicking and finding ways to keep your bond to satisfy the owners for the shody job as a property manager. The owner of the business has the worst attitude and the ego the size of Trump Tower and needs a reality check. The rental market is nowhere near as bad as it used to be so again STAY AWAY FIND ANY OTHER PROPERTY MANAGERS! The best thing for this place is to be on the direct hit on an asteroid path.

Fantastic experience: I have dealt with place west over 10 years from every angle: I’ve bought property, sold property, and leased property through them. They are competent and honest, and that seems to be far more than most real estate agents. Recommended.

Negative experience: Recently we received marketing material from two of your agents Gianni Carbone and Sacha Hennessy via mailbox drop. On our mailbox it states no real estate material as we are simply not interested in selling whatsoever and would prefer not wasting trees for something that comes at no use to us. Instead of kindly respecting our wishes we received a total of 9 pamphlets informing us of sales in the area. Usually I’d write this issue off and guess it was a harmless mistake however it was abundantly clear this was no mistake as it was 5 of the same pamflet for 22 Armstrong Tce and 4 from 21 Kent street. This is extremely unprofessional vendetta behaviour from all parties involved. If we kindly ask for no marketing we don’t expect multiples just because someone thinks it will be funny. Wasting resources isn’t a laughable joke in my professional opinion but if that’s this agency’s culture I will happily stay far away from place when it comes time to sell.

Negative experience: Please stop sending me junk mail. You selling a property (in a different suburb), and addressing a letter (to The Homeowner) does not give you the right to ignore my No Junk Mail sign.

Negative experience: The property manager who has since left the company let my backyard become a jungle. I inspected the property and stated that this is awful and she agreed that it has been neglected and in a poor condition! Did she not see it prior to this appointment? What was she being paid for? Why was this not discussed with me prior if they needed me to take any action regarding this. The communication from this agent was particularly poor as I had no idea that my unit had been neglected to such an extent, not to mention my poor tenants. I had an interim manager appointed to my property without any notification or contact. Then I had another manager appointed to my property, again without contact. It was only when I contacted them regarding the managerial issues of my property that I was informed of these changes occurring. The managers that they assigned had no experience in managing strata properties and it really showed with their complete lack of knowledge.

Fantastic experience: I'm 29 and have been renting since I was 19. I've rented with maybe six or seven different agents in that time. Trish and the others at Place West are the only ones who were ever consistently decent and reasonable. Big props for that. Thanks guys.

Negative experience: I placed an offer onto a REIQ sales contract because I am told this agency does not practice accepting expressions of interest (EOI). I expressed my concerns around legal fees that I would need to unnecessarily incur and did not understand why an initial offer through an EOI would not be accepted should my offer not be considered. She went on to explain that no one in her office practices EOI forms. Of course I'm a genuine buyer so I am forced to do as she requests. What bewildered me was the agent said my offer was competitive during my initial offer on the contract. But then, I am told after I was unsuccessful that neither my terms or price was competitive enough to compete with the other buyer !! She should have informed me initially so I could make put my best offer forward, as a result my concerns came to reality and I incurred legal fees in vain !! This is the first agency I've come across that refuses to accept EOI and apparently the entire office refuses to accept an EOI. What nonsense !! All potential buyers dealing with this agency, be prepared to lose money immediately through legal fees....

Fantastic experience: I recently leased my property for the first time through Patrick Carmelito at Place West. He made the process so easy and seamless, which took the stress out of finding and leasing the property in the current market. He was highly knowledgeable about all aspects and answered my many many questions with patience and ease. Patrick was utterly delightful to deal with, very prompt and always polite. Fantastic experience: Aimee and the rental team are fantastic. We dealt with them as tenants and could not have been happier with their professionalism and pragmatism. Aimee was able to really effectively mediate concerns between us as tenants with our landlord, while being respectful to the wishes and concerns of both parties. Liaising between tenants and landlords can be a tough intermediary position which she navigated really well. She always responded quickly to any concerns raised by us but otherwise did not interfere with our living at the property. If you are a tenant, you will be very fortunate if your rent with a property managed by Place West. And as an owner you can be comfortable that your tenants will be happy and any issues dealt with efficiently. Thanks so much for everything over the our 12 months with Place West Aimee!

Fantastic experience: We rented an apartment through Place West Paddington for the past two years and have had nothing but a great experience. Aimee was our property manager and she was nothing but professional, kind and responsive to any of the requests we made which is often hard to find these days. They made our rental experience easy and enjoyable. On top of that our bond inspection was done in a timely manner and A full refund was provided. Fantastic experience: My partner and I rented a property in Red Hill for nearly 3 years. Service was initially woeful UNTIL Juliet became our property manager. We had quite an unresponsive landlord and a difficult neighbour also tenanted through Place West and Juliet was amazing. She always went out of her way to negotiate a fair outcome on our behalf.

Negative experience: WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED. The girl I dealt with was COBI. I have never met someone so rude and arrogant in my life.

Fantastic experience: I rented a property in Bardon managed by Juliet Carr and the whole tenancy was stress free. Juliet promptly arranged repairs when required and communicated well around inspections and tenancy renewals. I would recommend renting through Juliet.

Fantastic experience: I purchased a home from Michael Ford at Place earlier this year. The combination of his professional and polite management of the process, and the co-operation and integrity of the vendor made for a most positive experience. I was even more appreciative when my son had a contrasting experience with another agent subsequent to my purchase (separate review submitted) Michael's management of the negotiations was as transparent as they could be under the circumstances. He was honest and patient during this process. Settlement occurred without any issues and the vendor left the house immaculate, having complied with all the terms of the contract. The instruction manuals for everything, paint colours, information on the plantings in the garden, and other information were left in a folder with handwritten notes re the idiosyncrasies of the home. The agent and the vendor also left a gift of champagne beautifully wrapped and presented Overall, I would highly recommend this agent and agency

Fantastic experience: Rented a lovely place in Paddington with Juliet Carr as the property manager. Juliet was very responsive to maintenance requests, as well as being understanding and helpful whenever there was something we needed. She and the rest of the team members we met over the course of the tenancy were a pleasure to deal with, and it was with regret that the next place we happened to rent was not with Place West.

Fantastic experience: Thank you Juliet Carr who managed the place I rented last year. She was very responsive to questions and problems we raised during our tenancy and respectful to tenants. The owner of the place also happened to be very responsive to issues so it was quite a pleasant stay.

Negative experience: Horrid experience. Took photos prior to moving in as the condition was disgusting. Eventually leaving the property they claimed damage that we took photos of prior to entry. (have received full bond back at every other place I have rented in my life – except here!) At one point only one door of the 4 entry points of the property was secure. (security issue for a solo female tenant!) This issue took 3 months to fix only after suggesting that I stop paying rent. Would arrange inspections and not turn up (happened twice in one year) Would say that I didn’t pay rent but when asked to provide the ledger would give me statement from 2 months prior and no other evidence. Took four months to receive bond back (after dealing with the RTA for most of that time) - NEVER have I had such issues with a real estate. If you are an investor - don't go through this agent (they won’t look after your property or tenants). If you are wanting to rent - consider sleeping in your car before these agents as this would be a lot less stressful.

Negative experience: 14 Saxonvale Place, The Gap, 4061. Rent $700 pw inc garden and pool maintenance. Bond $2800 Property manager JULIETTE CARR To cut a long story short, place west paddington have the most shambolic rental management I have ever seen, withheld my bond money and wouldn't mediate so I too the matter to qcat. After giving qcat false evidence they were ordered to return my bond money in full. A second qcat case was also heard for rent reduction due to losss of services, again qcat ordered this reduction and place west to pay back in full within 7 days.......two weeks later The money had not been paid back and I received an email asking for my back details from the property manager, they must have lost them from their records, which is not a surprise due the the incompetence of the manager......three weeks later and the money still hasn't shown up in my account. Looks like a court order is coming their way. Should this site require verification of my statement I will be more Than happy to prove Latest review after juliett Carr has failed yet again, Monday morning I will be taking out a court order against your company.

Fantastic experience: Juliet Carr was our property manager and I strongly recommend her. Juliet was the perfect medium between tenants and property owners, she treated us (the tenants) with respect and always seemed to have time for us.

Fantastic experience: Juliet Carr managed our rental property in Stafford Heights for a year and a half before we had to sell it. We would highly recommend her - she found us excellent tenants to rent the property within one week and went to a lot of trouble to check all the applicants' references really well - I think this makes a big difference. Super competent and easy to deal with - very nice to the tenants and kept them happy throughout the whole tenancy - we never had to change tenants which was great and saved us money. Most of the time we forgot we had the property because Juliet managed it so well.

Negative experience: Place west has given me terrible service and the staff are not friendly. The property manger, Coleen Bliss, hung up on me and ignores emails. I put in a maintenance request 5 months ago. Coleen Bliss then replied to my email yelling at me IN ALL CAPS after I expressed my concerns with the service. Not professional at all. She has also been very dishonest and rude.

Negative experience: Place west were the worst real estate I have ever dealt with. Our property manager Susanne was so incompetent and lacked even the basic of people skills, dealing with her was actually unbelievable. If I could advise anybody it would be not to use these idiots

Negative experience: This company is the worst and I recommend that everyone should avoid renting from them at all costs if possible. Also, money thieving and terrible staff members. I would give it a 0 star if I could. 1 is already too generous.

Negative experience: I am not at all surprised to see the overwhelmingly negative experience that everyone has had with these imbeciles. Never have I seen such an incompetent display of business and common courtesy from so called 'professionals.' You've got more chance of platting your own piss then getting one of these joke's to answer the phone, but they've got no problems showing up un-announced and without approval for inspections. Don't be fooled by the by lavish reception fit with fake awards, this mob couldn't direct a turd down a toilet.

Negative experience: I never write reviews to anything but I felt I had no choice in sharing our awful experience. It wasn't a surprise at all to see a 1.3/5 rating for this company. 2 inspections were organised without notifying us as tenants. The first time we found out when we heard voices downstairs in the house! A few days later we found out with a knock on the door! The agents stated they had emailed / called us, none of us has received any notification, however in the few weeks prior our water bill had no trouble in finding our emails. Post our bond clean we were sent an email stating "we have highlighted on the Exit Condition Report items outstanding which require your urgent attention within the next 24 hours to enable us to finalise your Bond refund" however there was no attachment or list of what actions we needed to perform, we tried time and time again to reach our agents ringing the office / emailing - it took a whole business day for them to get back to us! The communication on all fronts was absolutely horrendous, I felt sorry for the receptionists having to deal with our constant calls and attempts to reach the agents. Based on the other reviews and our experience this is obviously common practice for this firm. I would avoid this place like the plague.

Negative experience: One to add - susanne hartberg from Placewest Paddington, rude unprofessional woman, no people skill. Avoid dealing with her either at Placewest or another agency!

Positive experience: Had no problems with them, I found their agents to be friendly and helpful, and they were very quick with returning my deposit.

Negative experience: Worst Real Estate company in Brisbane! DO NOT USE THEM! Me and my friends were tenants for them in 2015. We vacated the property and cleaned it head to toe. We were waiting days upon days to receive our bond back in full! Then about a week after vacating the property they sent us a water bill and immediately took the money we owed for it out of our bond!! When we calculated the total split cost for the water and compared to the amount taken of the bond THEY STILL HAD UNDERPAID US BY $40 EACH! I've called them 3 times now and they won't get back to me. Total Incompetence!

Negative experience: From a period of 2014 to late 2015 this agency proved to be just hopeless. Rude, inconsiderate staff who do not know the laws and what is required of them under our rental laws.

Negative experience: We used Place Real Estate Agents (Coorparoo and East Brisbane) to manage our other rental property after a pleasant buying experience. However, we are absolutely disgusted with their management and communication skills in regards to the rental management. They promise the world (and happily take their monthly fee for not doing anything), but do not deliver at all. It is not worth the time and especially the huge amount of money lost by using these guys, they let us down in so many ways and are still suffering the consequences now. Bottom line, Do not consider using Place Real Estate to manage your property.

Negative experience: Terrible real estate agency - do NOT rent with them if you have a choice. In general, real estate agencies are quite incompetent, but these guys take the cake. Why; 1) Come for an inspection on the wrong day and give you attitude when you say its the wrong day 2) Have zero customer service - if the customer is unhappy, they will be rude to you 3) They will claim to have an emergency phone line - you call that number in an emergency and nobody will pick up 4) Maintenance issues you raise from months ago get ignored

Negative experience: Absolute terrible! These Muppet cost me a property that I had been looking at before it was released for sale (even though I had contacted them 5 times while it was on the market). They cost the seller 10's of thousands in potential lost bids as they did not contact other interested parties when they received an offer. They did not take any details of people coming through the property. I would not trust them to sell a used bike at a garage sale let alone a asset worth hundreds of thousands. Do yourself a favour and choose a company that operates with professional standards rather than these amateurs.

Negative experience: I agree with the other reviewers. These are terrible agents if you're a tenant. They are unfair, ignore requests and emails, pretend to be out of the office and our property manager Kate was downright inept.

Negative experience: Terrible experience as a tenant- they wouldn't reconcile our rent but kept issuing us breach notices even though we had rented from them for 2 1/2 years, never paid late and were constantly on the phone to them and our bank trying to clear up why the reference didn't match their reference (it was a banking computer issue- NOT our fault). Place told us the only way to rectify from their end was to pay rent AGAIN even though we had already paid and try to trace the original payment in their trust account. It's a real estate agency guys- reconciling rent is what you're paid to do. Our bank had this same problem with other people's direct debit rent payment and EVERYONE ELSE'S was reconciled no problem. Our bank told us that our agency was the most difficult one they had ever dealt with before. Landlords- if you want rent to hit your account, try another agency.

Negative experience: Appalling if you are a tenant! They turn up/allow others to gain entry with no notice (eg they walked in on my wife 1 minute after she got out of the shower, before she was dressed), abuse you over the phone (Lohell did so to my wife, twice!), or ignore your requests. We left after 6 months with no damage and cleaned the place to a standard better than when we moved in. On the exit inspection they demanded stuff be done, even though our entry condition report listed items which had not been done. Now they are trying to steal the bond from us. I'll be dealing with them through the RTA from here on. Avoid if you can!

Negative experience: Gave us the wrong address for an inspection. About 8 people were at the wrong address for 15 minutes before ringing and being told its too late to walk 10mins around the corner to the correct one as they couldn't be bothered waiting. Don't waste your time with this agency!!
