Negative experience: Absolutely worst real estate experience ever! We should have read the reviews first as all the negative reviews were exactly our experience in both rental and sales. Lazy, incompetent and rude staff. Do NOT trust your property with this real estate. Thank goodness we sold our rental and NEVER have to deal with them again. Unfortunately the experience costs us financially and emotionally.

Negative experience: I sold a property through blacks real estate and the contract had an error on it which caused lots of last minute rushing around. I also had storage through them and it took them 8 calls (6 of which went unanswered) and five emails to resolve an issue. I would never use their services again.

Fantastic experience: Great place to park with secure parking and quick buses to the terminals

Negative experience: Save yourself from ruining your experience staying in a beautiful place like Mackay. Blacks Real Estate should not even be considered while looking for real estates in Mackay. "We DON'T work for you, we ONLY work for money" should be their jingle instead.

Negative experience: Not recommended. I would never rent through Blacks Real Estate again and defintely not have Puja as anyone's property manager. After our experience, I can now understand why Blacks Real Estate does not have the best reputation in Mackay. The reviews speak for themselves. My experience with Blacks Real Estate has been deeply disappointing and, in my view, both unprofessional and unethical, particularly during the final stages of our tenancy. We rented through the agency for over two years and consistently paid our rent on time, maintained the property well, cooperated with inspections, and complied with all tenancy requirements. We also accommodated multiple inspections prior to vacating and spent over $1,000 on professional cleaning, rubbish removal, and preparing the property for handover. Despite this, nearly three months after vacating the property, we are still waiting for a final outcome regarding our bond. Throughout this period, communication was poor and obtaining clear updates proved extremely difficult. Emails often went unanswered, phone calls were not returned, and we were left chasing information regarding the status of our refund. What has been most frustrating is that after almost three months of waiting, we were advised that no refund was owing because further invoices and repair costs were still being considered. These claims were raised only after we vacated, despite regular inspections having taken place throughout our tenancy. We repeatedly requested clarification and supporting documentation, yet were left with more questions than answers. As tenants relocating interstate, we were originally led to believe that the bond process would be finalised shortly after cleaning, inspection, and handover were completed. Instead, we were subjected to ongoing delays, poor communication, uncertainty, and additional costs. This experience has not only resulted in financial strain but has also caused significant stress and mental distress for our family. No tenant who has fulfilled their obligations, acted in good faith, and cooperated throughout their tenancy should be treated this way. Throughout our tenancy, they ensured that multiple entry notices were issued for inspections and property condition checks. We received breaches for matters such as mould, which was an ongoing issue with the property, and for scuff marks on the induction, as if we were the first tenants to have used them and for something that would ordinarily be considered normal wear and tear. When questioned, we were told these were routine matters and nothing to worry about. Despite repeatedly complying with requests, completing multiple checklists time and again, and maintaining the property, we still found ourselves facing additional claims after vacating. And it does not end there. Despite all this, they will make sure to not give a good reference and will make it diffciult for you to get a property anywhere else. No wonder why people renting through this real estate abscond. As there is definitely no place here for honest and genuine tenants like us. A property manager's responsibility does not end once a tenant hands back the keys. Transparency, communication, and fair treatment should continue through to the finalisation of the bond and any outstanding matters. I have lived in Australia for almost eight years and rented through multiple agencies during that time. This has been, by far, the most frustrating and disappointing end-of-tenancy experience I have encountered. If you are looking for a good real estate agency, I would strongly recommend saving yourself the financial stress, mental distress, and frustration that we have experienced and considering other options. I am sharing this review so that prospective tenants can make an informed decision before engaging with Blacks Real Estate. "We work for you" sounds great in the jingle. Unfortunately, I couldn't disagree more.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgraceful experience. This agency sets the bar unbelievably low for professionalism and then somehow still manages to fall short of it. From the beginning, communication was poor, inconsistent, and felt like we were being brushed off at every step. We met all the criteria and put in the effort expected of any serious applicant, yet were treated like an afterthought the entire time. Getting a straight answer was nearly impossible, and any updates felt like they came only after repeated follow-ups—if at all. The whole process felt disorganised, unfair, and like a complete waste of time. It’s hard not to feel like applications are just going through the motions with no real consideration given. If you value your time, energy, or sanity, I’d strongly recommend avoiding this agency and looking elsewhere. Easily one of the most frustrating rental experiences we’ve had.

Negative experience: Horrible experience trying to get a rental through blacks real estate Mackay. The “bloke” at the front desk couldn’t have been any less interested, it was like pulling teeth trying to get him to grab the rental manager for us. After we applied for a rental, we had no follow up phone calls, staff did not want to assist at all. I would rather sleep under a tarp then get a rental through blacks real estate.

Negative experience: Ended up withdrawing an application after speaking with the property manager, Puja, who was rude and unprofessional. Didn’t want to be locked into 6 months dealing with that sort of attitude. The only good person I have dealt with in this place is Brock. He is always helpful and friendly. Nobody else seems to care about any level of professionalism

Fantastic experience: Andrew helped me get the property in many ways, We had a lot of hurdles to get over but he stayed with me and got the job done. Most appreciative for the work put in and the patience received.

Negative experience: Think twice before renting through Blacks Real Estate. My experience with this agency, and specifically with the property manager Puja Manhotra, has been extremely disappointing and unprofessional. When I first moved into the property, two doors were broken. It took more than 10 calls and multiple emails before the issue was finally addressed. The repairs only happened after I mentioned that I might have to withhold rent due to unresolved maintenance issues. Now I am trying to transfer my lease and I provided three potential tenants more than four weeks ago. Instead of contacting the people I provided (as expected during a lease transfer process), the property manager listed the property publicly without informing me. On top of that: - My emails are not being answered. - Phone calls are not being returned. - I have received an invoice for three weeks of rent, despite already lodging four weeks of bond with the RTA. - No proper effort appears to have been made to contact my references or assist with the lease transfer. This lack of communication and transparency is extremely frustrating for a tenant who has tried to follow the correct process. I will be raising this matter with the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) and exploring further options if necessary. Tenants should be very cautious before dealing with this agency.

Fantastic experience: Lovely to deal with, great communication. Josephine knows everything about Dysart and has the connections to make the sale as quick and easy as possible. She is very honest in her advice and puts her clients first. Thank you.

Negative experience: A very bad experience regarding the renewal of our lease. After verbally agreeing to a 12 months renewal they sent us a lease to sign with a 16 months renewal. We do not want 16 months, they then told us than we can have 16 months or 3 months and give us 5 hours to decide. After calling them to find a solution they just hang up on us. Terrible service, I would avoid dealing with them at all cost.

Negative experience: Another lovely review for Josephine potter no responses across any properties over the past 6 months or more dosnt return emails or calls horrible service won’t be using this company for management sales or purchases going forward

Negative experience: I called in regards to purchasing a property. The little girl Josephine hung up on me so I rang the office and was on hold for 7.36 minutes. Finally the manager answered. As I explained what had taken place with Josephine he was laughing. I asked if this is how they treat all potential clients and he said, yeah yeah What a trash company

Fantastic experience: Excellent & seamless sale. Peter and the Team at Black’s Real Estate have excellent local knowledge and are very professional every step of the sale process from start to finish. We were updated either by phone or email and sale of the property was very quick and seamless. I’d recommend Black’s to anyone wanting to sell a property.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service for sales and rental

Negative experience: If I could give them no stars I would. Absolutely terrible experience over several years dealing with Blacks Real Estate. We have never received a return phone call to this date, it takes months to respond to emails if they do at all even if it's urgent due to a majorly leaking roof or a break in with damage. They are rude and unprofessional and from talking to many others, we definitely aren't the only ones that have had such a negative experience unfortunately.

Despite not being able to visit the site in person, Claudia provided me with detailed video footage that gave me complete confidence in my decision. Fantastic experience: Good advice led to Quick Sale. We were selling our house as is. Glenis advised us to get our own Building and Pest report which eliminated any back and forth negotiations. Her use of digital styling, great photography including drone footage was effective. Glenis’ manner was always positive and she always kept us fully informed.

Negative experience: Blacks Realestate have taught their agents well obviously. Glenis is probably the worst Agent I’ve ever dealt with in over 40 years. This women lies and covers up here mistakes, misinformation, never does what she says she will do because (“I am always working and so busy to get back to you”) she lies through her teeth and somehow turns it all around and denies that she’s done or said anything wrong…. And she gets away with it! And l trusted her!!! Don’t trust this Agent!!! I do not recommend this Realestate

Negative experience: The worst and useless agents are employed here. The Indian agent is senseless and never NEVER approach these agents!! They never give the bond back or give a proper reason for any difficulties faced when you live in their rental houses. They owe $1000 of bond but haven’t returned us the bond since months. I can’t imagine how can they even treat people this way with their slow paced work approach and have no cooperation with their customers. They respond to emails after weeks of waiting which is really bad service . Very unsatisfactory and unprofessional behaviour!!!

Negative experience: We rented a property with Blacks and were extremely disappointed by the way the agent treated us. For example, we mowed our lawns four days before the tenancy date ended, and we were charged $140 for mowing them again, two weeks after our tenancy ended. They took $130 out of our bond to change a light bulb. We were never given the opportunity to return to the property to fix the issues. The real estate agent did not want to be practical or fair so we had to go through a formal dispute process. We now own two properties and I would not use Blacks as our rental managers. If you want long-term tenants, I believe a rental agency should treat tenants fairly. That way, tenants would stay longer and be happy with the service they have received. Overall I am very disappointed with my experience with Blacks. I found the staff to be rude, aggressive, unaccommodating and generally unpleasant to deal with. I will not be using them again in the future that is for sure.

Negative experience: I know someone who went for a viewing with this company and as soon as Janice seen him she turned her nose up at him and was so damn rude!!! He knew straight away that she already had judged him. When I went in after she was so professional leaning up against the window didn't have a care in the world what we had to say!!! Such a professional you are , you even left the first lot of people out waiting for a viewing and didn't have the courtesy to let them know you had cancelled it!! I'm not disappointed about you declining him just the fact that you didn't even show courtesy toward him is so unprofessional and you should really think about how you act toward people you are an elderly woman and shouldn't act so snotty because your a high class realtor. Don't ever look down on someone that isn't your race!!!! Totally disgusting behaviour from you Janice Cash. You treat everyone with RESPECT not just people with money.

Fantastic experience: Great team. Can’t recommend Janice and her team enough. They really supported me on my move to a new town and were really understanding about timeframes. They showed the most professional behaviour but during inspections were always down for a chat. Zoe was a highlight to chat to during these inspections and Timmy the turtle got lots of attention. Thanks guys for being an amazing supporting team to a new mackay tenant.

Negative experience: Worst company to have for rental property management. Very misleading to tenants and not at all helpful to the owners as well. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Very sad to see a few toxic people ruin the company's goodwill. Very unprofessional, misleading, and rude employees in the rental department.

Negative experience: Unsure how the senior agent we dealt with gets so many rural properties. Out of touch and unethical. Caught in a number of lies - to both parties - during our purchase. Many others have had the same experience but are too worried to leave review. There's a reason this agent has all personal reviews turned off online. Younger agent we occasionally dealt with was lovely. All in all, would recommend steering clear of this agency.

Negative experience: It can be frustrating and disheartening when dealing with a company that has poor customer service. You might find that they hang up on you during important conversations, leaving you feeling ignored and unsupported. On top of that, their communication skills may be extremely poor, leaving you feeling confused and frustrated. When you add to this their complete lack of ethics, it can be difficult to feel like you're being treated fairly. Unfortunately, it seems like the agents that you deal with are often uneducated, irresponsible, and unaccountable, making it hard to get the help you need. Stay away from Blacks at all costs.
