Negative experience: Worst experience ever with Real estate agents. Incredibly unprofessional in my opinion because l was told in writing that they had an offer and it was never presented to me. I've also never been ghosted by an agent before!! l also believe they breached their contract with us by not advertising the property as agreed.

Fantastic experience: I sold a property recently with John Matthews and the amazing team at Matthews. I interviewed four agents and in the end we selected John. He offered superior marketing options and we felt was more cutting edge and bespoke than the tired old franchise agencies. Having sold previously with a couple of different local agencies the experience with Matthew’s. Was the best we have ever experienced. The price and service was outstanding. If you are thinking of selling in Moonee Valley there is no other option !

Negative experience: Our interstate investment property came off listing unsold with John Matthews Agency 2 months ago. During the campaign, we tried our best to push it through. We listened to John's advice / professional strategy and agreed to reduce the price range down couple of times. We got ZERO offer after the campaign. It was devastating. John then advised us to polish the property a bit because it seemed to be a "tired rental property", which would cost additional 30k. We ended up moving on with another agency and accepted the loss of that big chunk of marketing fee we paid upfront with John Matthews Agency (nearly 6k) . The property was sold in 3 weeks without any of that renovation /polishing that John suggested. And we felt so much more comfortable with them. Better communication. Better local experience. Better marketing fee. Better care too. John Matthews Agency provided good service, but sadly it was not what we needed. --------------------- Edit 18/07/2022 - Response to Matthews' comment below: - Not all property investors have opportunities/ time to wait to sell their house vacant. I knew it would be problematic anyways selling our property with tenants in it. That's why I picked your agency - apparently was the best one in the area based on our online research amongst other 5 agencies that approached me to get the work. Before signing the agreement, I also spoke with you to confirm whether you were confident to deal with a tenanted property or not. You said you are confident and happy to assist to bring out the best result . It was not like we lied to you about this. - The house was not that poorly presented. My tenants kept the house quite clean. Unfortunately their taste in furniture does not meet your luxurious interior standards. But again, you had the choice to opt out if you wanted after inspected the house. We would have been grateful if you did that. - And I surely did not have high expectation on price. Every time you instructed us to reduce price range to attract more buyers, we listened and followed even it was nearly 100k below your initial quote. - The process was not pleasant either. Lack of communication is my impression. It took hours or even days for you to respond to my call for updates. In a nutshell, we both learned our lessons. I wish you the best of luck with your real estate business. No hard feelings.
